PCT_Edit provides a simple interface that allows editing of Trimble PCT files and the importation of antenna information from the NGS antenna information.

Download PCT_Edit (65Kb) does require the Delphi 5 Support package.

The system has four major functions


FILE OPEN

The file open menu item displays a standard file open dialog.

As can be seen there are five options

All data, except Geo++ format is imported so that it can be edited normally.

Geo++ format supports azimuth dependant values which is not supported in the PCT files, so it can be imported but it can not be saved.

 

TRIMBLE ANTENNA PHASE CENTER MODEL:

This option is used to import for editing any Trimble PCT file.

 

TRIMBLE NGS ANTENNA PHASE CENTER MODEL:

This option is used to import for editing any NGS model that is stored in Trimble PCT format file. They normally have a .NGS extension

 

 

NGS MULTIPLE ANTENNA FILE

NGS provides antenna information in two formats, a single antenna per file, or a file with all known antennas in one file. PCT_Edit only supports the multiple file format.

Once you select the NGS file, you are prompted to select the single antenna to import from the multiple files.

As dialog similar to the following will be displayed.

Select the antenna you wish to import and then click on select, or just double click the antenna.

Once the antenna has been imported the follow warning is displayed

Please make sure that you make sure that the PCT and Antenna.ini files are consistent.

 

TRIMBLE ANTENNA.INI FILE

    The Trimble Antenna.ini file selection works very similarly to the NGS multiple file import.

    A form similar to the following is displayed showing antennas available in the Survey group of Antenna.ini

    You will notice that there are 3 columns.

  1. Name of the antenna
  2. TRMB or Blank. If TRMB indicates that a Trimble model exists for this antenna
  3. NGS or Blank. IF NGS then a NGS model exists for this antenna.

Selecting the antenna will automatically load the model if there is only one. If there are two antennas the following dialog will be displayed.

Select YES to load the Trimble model, NO to load the NGS model

 

GEO++ FORMAT:

The option will load a Geo++ format antenna file. The details of this file can be found at

http://www.ife.uni-hannover.de/~web/AOA_DM_T/geonap.html

Note that that file is modified on import so that the units are in mm (instead of m) and are the same sign as the NGS models.(Swapped)

It should be noted that this has only been tested on azimuth dependant files, elevation only files most likely will not work.

 


EDITING

The system provides a simple interface for editing, please note that NO checking is performed on input values.

There are 4 tabs that are available when editing

 

GENERAL DETAILS

    Details

This page allows editing of the name, vendor and other details. These values are only used for documentation. Within Trimble Software all these values are driven by values in Antenna.ini.

 

MEAN OFFSETS

mean

The mean offset screen allows editing of the L1 and L2 mean offsets, these offsets are the mean positional offset between antennas.

Notes:

  • NGS models are referenced to the bottom of the antenna, Trimble models are referenced to the APC, as indicated on the antenna.
  • It is currently assumed that all NGS models are are dual frequency.

 

L1 ELEVATION OFFSETS

L1

A simple editing of elevation dependant offsets. Trimble models are in the range 5-90, NGS models are in the range 10-90 (although the file format supports down to 0, this is not used).

L2 ELEVATION OFFSETS

A simple editing of elevation dependant offsets. Trimble models are in the range 5-90, NGS models are in the range 10-90 (although the file format supports down to 0, this is not used).

ILE SAVE AS

The Save As option saves the current PCT information in a Trimble PCT format file. 

Notes:

  • It is not possible at this time to create a new antenna PCT file from scratch, just copy and edit one.
  • To update a PCT file, just save it back with the same name.


FILE EXPORT

The file export option will create a tab delimited file of the contents of the L1 and L2 elevation information

Selecting that ALL values will create files with the extension changed to L1 and L2 respectively. If a single export is selected the the file name is what ever is entered.

Note that ALL will create a L2 file for L1 only antennas

 

VERSION HISTORY:

  • Fixed Problem with Geo++ antenna files. The block offsets were not being converted to mm.
  • Added support for Geo++ elevation dependant models. Previously only azimuth and elevation models worked
  • Worked around case when the antenna model has blank line in it. Which isn’t in the spec, but the Dorne elevation only model on the univeristy of hannover web site has extra CR in the file. (Most likely when they FTPed to the remote site)
